    Procedure for Copyright Registration

    Application Filing (Form XIV)
    • File application online at copyright.gov.in or offline at the Copyright Office (New Delhi).
    • Required details: applicant’s name, address, nationality, work description, language, date of creation/publication.
    • Pay prescribed government fee (varies depending on type of work).
    Step 2
    Submission of Documents
    • Two copies of the work (if applicable).
    • Power of Attorney (if filed through an agent/lawyer).
    • NOC (No Objection Certificate) from the author/owner if the applicant is not the actual creator.
    • ID & Address proof of the applicant.
    Step 3
    Diary Number & Waiting Period
    • After filing, the Copyright Office issues a Diary Number (acknowledgement).
    • A 30-day waiting period follows → during which objections (if any) can be raised by third parties.
    Step 4
    Examination by Registrar
    • If no objections → application is examined by the examiner.
    • If objections are raised → hearing is scheduled.
    Step 5
    Registration & Certificate
    • If approved, details of the work are entered into the Register of Copyrights.
    • A Copyright Registration Certificate is issued to the applicant.
