    What is FSSAI?

    FSSAI stands for Food Safety and Standards Authority of India.
    It is an autonomous body established under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.
    It works under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India.

    Steps for Getting FSSAI Food Licence in India

    Step:-1
    Identify the Type of Licence
    • Basic Registration → For petty food businesses (turnover ≤ ₹12 lakhs).
    • State Licence → For medium businesses (turnover ₹12 lakhs – ₹20 crores).
    • Central Licence → For large businesses (turnover > ₹20 crores, import/export, multi-state operations).

    Register on FoSCoS Portal
    • Visit https://foscos.fssai.gov.in.
    • Sign up as a Food Business Operator (FBO).
    Step:-3
    Fill Application Form
    • Form A → For Basic Registration.
    • Form B → For State/Central Licence.
    • Provide details like business name, address, product category, and turnover.

    Upload Required Documents
    • Applicant’s photo & ID proof (Aadhaar, PAN, etc.).
    • Proof of premises (ownership/rent agreement, utility bill).
    • Food Safety Management System (FSMS) plan.
    • List of proposed food products.
    • Turnover proof (for State & Central).
    • Incorporation/partnership documents (if company/firm).
    • NOC from local body/municipality (if applicable).

    Pay Fees Online
    • Basic Registration → ₹100/year.
    • State Licence → ₹2,000–₹5,000/year (varies).
    • Central Licence → ₹7,500/year.

    Application Review & Inspection
    • The Food Safety Officer may inspect your premises.
    • If any deficiencies are found, you must rectify them.

    Grant of FSSAI Licence
    • After approval, you’ll receive an FSSAI Certificate with a 14-digit licence/registration number.
    • This number must be displayed at your premises and printed on all food labels/packages.
